Day 1: Kairos Over Chaos
Based on the Message: "The Right Place and the Right Time" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.” - 1 Chronicles 12:32
Devotional: We live in a world that often feels like it's spinning out of control. Wars, political tensions, economic uncertainties—chaos seems to be the order of the day. Yet amid this disorder, God invites us to see beyond the chaos to recognize His divine timing—what the ancient Greeks called kairos. Kairos represents God's perfect, opportune moments that operate outside our human timelines. While we're bound by chronological time (chronos), God exists beyond time and space. He sees the beginning from the end and works according to His perfect schedule, not ours. When life feels chaotic, it's easy to forget that God remains in control. We may look at our circumstances and see only confusion, but God is orchestrating events according to His divine purpose. He stands outside of time itself, able to move in ways we cannot comprehend.
Quote: "Kairos timing is a moment when conditions are right for decisive action. Chronos is governed by hands of a clock, but Kairos is governed by seasons. In other words, you have to know how to make the right decision at the right time" - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: Today, consider the areas of your life that feel chaotic. Perhaps it's your finances, relationships, career, or health. Instead of being overwhelmed by these challenges, ask God to help you discern His kairos moments within them. What might He be doing that you cannot yet see? How might He be positioning you for something greater?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, in a world of chaos, help me to trust Your perfect timing. When I cannot see the way forward, remind me that You stand outside of time and space, orchestrating all things for my good and Your glory. Give me eyes to see Your kairos moments in my daily life. Amen.
Day 2: Don’t Give Up Too Soon
Based on the Message: "The Right Place and the Right Time" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." - Galatians 6:9
Devotional: There’s a reason farmers don’t dig up their seeds every few days to check for progress. Growth takes time—and trust. Likewise, when you’re doing good, it’s easy to get tired or discouraged, especially if results aren’t visible. In fact, weariness is one of the enemy’s most subtle weapons. He doesn’t just want to oppose your purpose—he wants to exhaust you so you give up right before your breakthrough. But God's promise stands: in due season, you will reap—if you don’t give up. When you feel most tempted to quit, lean into God’s strength. That pressure you're under? It's often confirmation that the harvest is near. The enemy wants you to quit too soon—but God wants you to finish strong.
Quote: "There are three things the enemy wants you to do: give up, stop doing good, and forfeit your harvest." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: Where have you felt tempted to quit sowing because you haven’t seen results and how can you press on instead?
Prayer: Father, renew my strength and perseverance. Remind me that my faithfulness matters even when I can’t see fruit. I choose to keep doing good and trusting You for the harvest. Amen.
Day 3: Sowing to the Spirit in Challenging Times
Based on the Message: "The Right Place and the Right Time" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." - Galatians 6:8
Devotional: In difficult seasons, our natural instinct is self-preservation. We focus on our own needs, concerns, and comfort. While this seems logical, God calls us to a counterintuitive approach: sowing to the Spirit even when our flesh cries out for attention. Sowing to the Spirit means making decisions based on eternal values rather than temporary comfort. It means continuing to give when finances are tight, serving others when we're exhausted, and worshiping when we don't feel like it. These choices often defy human logic but align with God's kingdom principles. The principle is clear: what we sow determines what we reap. This doesn't mean ignoring practical needs. Rather, it means approaching those needs with spiritual wisdom, trusting God's provision while continuing to invest in His kingdom. In chaotic times, the temptation to withdraw from spiritual commitments intensifies. Yet these are precisely the moments when maintaining those commitments matters most.
Quote: You can’t expect a lettuce harvest from tomato seeds — what you plant determines what grows." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: In what specific way is God asking you to sow to the Spirit right now, even though your flesh might be resisting?
Prayer: Father, help me to sow to the Spirit even when my flesh resists. When I'm tempted to pull back from spiritual commitments due to worldly pressures, give me courage to keep investing in eternal things. Thank You that what I sow to the Spirit will yield a harvest that lasts forever. Amen.
Day 4: Don’t Miss the Kairos Moment
Based on the Message: "The Right Place and the Right Time" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." - Galatians 6:10
Devotional: The Greek word for "opportunity" here is kairos — God’s appointed time. Every kairos moment is a chance to partner with heaven and bless someone else. These moments often look like interruptions or inconveniences, but in reality, they are invitations. Don’t miss them. Whether it’s a word of encouragement, an act of generosity, or a simple gesture of care—every seed sown into others has eternal value. Be sensitive to God’s timing, seize the moment, and remember: If you take care of His House, He’ll take care of your house!
Quote: "We overcome spiritual weariness by simply obeying scripture: do good to all, especially those in the household of faith. Rather than throwing in the towel, pick it up and serve as the Lord leads." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: In what ways has God called you to serve the household of faith, and have you responded?
Prayer: Lord, help me be alert to the opportunities You’re placing before me. Don’t let me miss the chance to do good and serve others for Your glory. Amen.
Day 5: Standing Firm in Spiritual Warfare
Based on the Message: "The Right Place and the Right Time" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." - Ephesians 6:10-11
Devotional: The chaos we experience in our world isn't merely the result of human conflicts or natural circumstances—it's often spiritual warfare. The enemy works strategically to create confusion, weariness, and discouragement, hoping to derail us from God's purposes. Ephesians 6 reminds us that our struggle isn't against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. The chaos around us is often a battlefield where the enemy attempts to distract us from God's kairos moments and divine opportunities. Standing firm in these battles requires spiritual armor—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God's Word. It means recognizing when confusion and weariness are spiritual attacks rather than merely natural circumstances. When we feel most confused or tempted to give up, that's often when we need to press into prayer and stand on God's promises. By standing firm in spiritual warfare, we position ourselves to recognize and embrace God's kairos moments even in the midst of apparent chaos.
Quote: " The enemy wants you to forfeit your harvest. He wants you to do the wrong thing at the right time." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What area of spiritual warfare are you currently facing and what spiritual weapons do you need to utilize?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I recognize that the chaos around me is often spiritual warfare. Help me to stand firm in Your strength, putting on the full armor You've provided. When confusion comes, give me clarity. When weariness threatens, renew my strength. Help me to recognize Your divine timing even in the midst of apparent disorder. In Jesus' name, Amen.
