Day 1: The Power of True Fellowship
Based on the Message: “From Network to Net Worth” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer." - Acts 2:42
Devotional: In Acts 2, we witness the early church establishing something revolutionary: fellowship that went far beyond casual Sunday gatherings. The Greek word koinonia encompasses intimate relationships, civic partnerships, and economic cooperation. These believers didn't just share meals; they shared their very lives.
When we truly understand fellowship, it transforms how we engage with our spiritual family. The early church "had all things in common" because they recognized their deepest association was Christ Himself. This bond transcended ethnicity, social class, and personal preferences, creating a community where resources, wisdom, and opportunities flowed freely.
True fellowship requires intentionality. It means moving beyond the red chairs in isolation to sitting across from people and developing real relationships. It means sharing your expertise, supporting others' endeavors, and opening doors when God prompts you. This isn't about charity or socialism; it's about cooperative kingdom economics.
Today, ask yourself: Are you participating in true fellowship, or are you merely attending church? God wants to use your relationships to create an economic tsunami within His kingdom. But first, you must be willing to share more than pleasantries; you must share your life.
Quote: "Fellowship is not just fun. It's not just food. Fellowship is also about finances. - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: How can you move from casual church attendance to intentional fellowship that includes sharing your resources, expertise, and opportunities with others?
Prayer: Father, open my heart to true fellowship. Help me see beyond surface-level relationships to the deeper connections You want me to build. Show me how to share my life, skills, opportunities, and resources with my church community. Give me the wisdom to participate in cooperative kingdom economics, understanding that my greatest association is with Christ Jesus. Transform my mindset from protecting mine to building Yours. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day 2: Blooming Where You're Planted in Babylon
Based on the Message: “From Network to Net Worth” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." - Jeremiah 29:7
Devotional: Being blessed in Babylon sounds like a contradiction, but it's God's strategy for His people in difficult times. Consider the California redwood tree: instead of growing downward, its roots spread outward, literally interlocking with neighboring trees. In a similar way, we must understand that a believer's strength comes from integration with the body of Christ, not isolation.
Jeremiah commanded the exiles to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of their captive city. This wasn't passive resignation; it was active engagement with kingdom principles in a foreign land. God expects us to be producers, not just consumers, even when circumstances aren't ideal.
Your current situation isn't punishment; it's preparation. Whether you're in between jobs, working beneath your potential, or facing systemic challenges, God wants to use these very circumstances to sharpen you. Every difficult season is an opportunity to develop the core competencies that will serve you in your next level.
Babylon can't be your excuse for mediocrity. Instead of complaining about what was or wishing for different circumstances, ask God how He wants to develop you where you are. Your faithfulness over a few things qualifies you to be a ruler over many. Bloom where you're planted, not because Babylon is perfect, but because that's where God has positioned you for this season.
Quote: "God wants to bless us in Babylon. That means that within Babylon, there has to be a people within a people. There has to be some systems that are not dependent on Babylon in order to be blessed in Babylon." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: Instead of waiting for your circumstances to change, how is God calling you to change and grow within your current situation?
Prayer: Lord, help me bloom where I'm planted. I reject the victim mentality that keeps me stuck in complaints about my circumstances. Instead, sharpen me through this season. Show me how to be faithful over the few things You've entrusted to me. Give me the vision to see opportunities for growth even in Babylon. Help me become a producer, not just a consumer, and teach me to seek the welfare of where You've placed me. I trust Your process of preparation. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day 3: Your Network Determines Your Net Worth
Based on the Message: “From Network to Net Worth” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common. And they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need." - Acts 2:44-45
Devotional: The early church discovered something powerful: cooperative economics through intentional relationships. They didn't just share meals; they shared opportunities, resources, and expertise. This wasn't charity; it was strategic kingdom networking that created wealth and stability within their community.
Your network truly determines your net worth, but not in the way the world teaches. While secular networking focuses on what others can do for you, kingdom networking asks what God wants to accomplish through your interconnected relationships. The people sitting next to you in service have resources, skills, and connections that could transform your situation, and vice versa.
God designed the body of Christ so that each joint supplies what other parts need. Your expertise in healthcare, education, business, or trades isn't just for your personal advancement; it's meant to strengthen the entire network. When you share knowledge, make referrals, or provide opportunities, you're investing in kingdom infrastructure.
New Vision, we aim to turn our network into net worth through Pastor Dexter's T.R.U.S.T. framework, by sharing transactions, referrals, understanding, support, and tables. We must embrace the reality that our individual success is connected to our collective prosperity. Today, God is calling you to move beyond surface-level relationships to strategic spiritual partnerships that advance His kingdom and bless your household.
Quote: "Behind every thriving believer is a hidden network of interconnecting relationships, gifts, and resources within the body of Christ. We need to take a census and connect the dots, cultivating a culture of godly referrals." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What expertise, connections, or resources has God given you that could benefit someone else in the body of Christ?
Prayer: Father, help me see my relationships through kingdom eyes. Show me how to move beyond networking for personal gain to building connections that advance Your purposes. Give me wisdom to share my expertise, make strategic referrals, and open doors for others. Help me understand that my individual success is tied to our collective prosperity as Your people. Transform my network into a kingdom net worth that glorifies You and blesses generations. In Jesus' name, amen.
Day 4: Fighting for Future Generations
Based on the Message: “From Network to Net Worth” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." - Jeremiah 29:7
Devotional: Becoming a believer is not a "bless-me" club; this is spiritual warfare. The enemy isn't just targeting you; he's targeting your entire bloodline. Not only does Satan want to destroy you, but he also wants to damage your children and future descendants. Understanding this reality changes everything about how you fight.
God has raised you up for this unique moment. You're not here by accident during these turbulent times. Every battle you fight, stronghold you demolish, and principle you establish creates a foundation for generations you'll never meet. Your faithfulness today determines what your children will overcome tomorrow.
The devil tried to take you out through addiction, violence, poor decisions, or trauma, but God preserved you for a time such as this. Now that you have knowledge, understanding, and kingdom community, the enemy's time is running out. Every breath God preserved is now meant to give Him glory and establish righteousness in your family line.
You can't afford to be cowardly now. Like soldiers who signed up for battle, and first responders who run toward danger, we must embrace our calling to advance the kingdom. Your family tree needs to be straightened through you. This fight is bigger than your temporary comfort; it's about an eternal legacy.
Quote: "You're fighting for generations unborn that you'll never meet. What you do today has an impact on their future lives."- Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What generational patterns or strongholds is God calling you to break so your children won't have to fight the same battles?
Prayer: God, I accept my assignment as a generational game-changer. Give me spiritual aggression to fight not just for my present comfort but for my children's future. Help me see beyond my immediate circumstances to the eternal impact of my choices. Break every generational curse and establish righteousness in my family line. Use me to straighten what the enemy tried to make crooked. I'm built for this battle and ready to fight for those coming after me. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
Day 5: From Convenience to Convening
Based on the Message: “From Network to Net Worth” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25
Devotional: The enemy's greatest strategy in difficult times is isolation. While chaos increases around us, he whispers that it's more convenient to stay home, watch online, or handle things independently. But this is exactly when we need community the most. Your power doesn't come from isolation; it comes from integrating and interacting with God's people.
Convenience has become the enemy of commitment. We've created a culture where comfort determines our spiritual engagement rather than conviction. The early church understood something we're losing: consistent gathering creates spiritual momentum that can't be replicated in isolation. They "continually devoted themselves" to coming together.
When you convene, you're not just hearing the preacher preach. You're sitting elbow to elbow with people who have something you need, and vice versa. The person next to you might have the job opportunity you've been praying for, the business connection you need, or the wisdom that transforms your situation. But if you stay home because of convenience, you'll miss it.
God is calling His people back to intentional gathering. Not just physical presence but engaged participation in building His kingdom through relationships. The harder the times get, the more crucial it becomes to fight for community. Your breakthrough might be sitting right next to you.
Quote: "In today's culture, we've allowed convenience to hinder our convening."- Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What conveniences have you allowed to hinder your commitment to gathering with God's people, and what will you do to prioritize convening over comfort?
Prayer: Father, forgive me for allowing convenience to rob me of the power found in convening with Your people. Help me see beyond the comfort of isolation to the necessity of community. Give me the discipline to show up consistently, not just when it's convenient. Open my eyes to the opportunities, relationships, and breakthroughs that come through faithful gathering. I refuse to let the enemy isolate me during difficult times. Strengthen my commitment to Your house and Your people. In Jesus' name, amen.
